According to a new report, HMD Global and Nokia will release a low-end smartphone called the Nokia 1 under the Android Go program. This phone is supposed to cater to the emerging smartphone markets around the world.
Google recently announced the Android 8.0 Oreo Go Edition, which is meant to run on low-end devices and feature several slimmed down apps from the search giant. A Nokia device running this version of Android will definitely help the company gain some ground in markets where people cannot afford expensive phones.
Nokia 9 specs and release date
The report mentions that the Nokia 1 will only feature 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The phone would also come with an HD LCD display and priced somewhere around 80 Euros. That’s a really good price, considering the fact that the phone will be running on the latest software. The low spec shouldn’t be a problem and the OS should run very smoothly.
Further details, such as the announcement date, haven’t been revealed. We should hear about this Nokia 1 in the coming weeks. Apparently, Huawei too has a similar device planned. There will be several companies joining the Android Go program and releasing cheap and low-end smartphones that aren’t bad.
