Early in the day we reported, based on a Weibo leak, that Xiaomi might soon release a Lite or Youth version of its flagship phone Mi6. However, this has been negated by Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO saying that there are currently no plans for Mi6 Youth Edition.
Commenting via his Weibo handle, the CEO reiterated the top specs of the flagship phone Mi6 and below it officially confirmed that there’s no plan to release Mi6 Youth version. With this, the hopes of many consumers to be able to purchase a mid-range Xiaomi phone with flagship features went crashing to the ground.

Xiaomi Mi6 was launched last month in China in two versions — the Standard edition with a glass body and the Ceramic edition. While the former packs in 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB native storage, the Ceramic edition carries 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM. The features on board both the Mi6 versions, except for the storage and price, are identical.
The price of Mi6 64GB is RMB 2,499 while the 128GB version of the device costs RMB 2,899, and finally, the Ceramic version sets you back by RMB 2,999.

Xiaomi Mi6 sports 5.15inch FHD display with four-sided edge design. Powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor, the phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat. There’s a dual 12 MP rear camera with PDAF, dual-LED flash and an 8 MP selfie snapper. There’s also an under-glass fingerprint scanner and a 3350 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
