The list that Motorola released a few days ago, indicating what devices would be getting the Android 4.0 update and also when they would be getting it, mentioned “further plans coming soon” for a few devices. It seems that for three of those devices, further plans include cancelling the update altogether.
Motorola has announced that the Atrix 4G, Electrify, and Photon 4G will not be receiving the Android 4.0 update at all and remain on Android 2.3 forever, which will leave owners of those devices pretty disappointed. Motorola recently promised to be forward and open in its communication to customers, but it seems bad news is going to be a part of this communication as well, at least for some customers.
So sorry folks, it was not to be. At least that’s what Motorola says, but we hope they can keep this to a bare minimum and don’t ditch too many more devices like this.
