Well, what do you know, Xiaomi may have another bezel-less display in the works. Renowned leakster, Mmddj_china, posted on twitter that Xiaomi may come up with a new Redmi device with an aspect ratio of 18:9, similar to the one found on the LG G6 and Galaxy S8.
The Chinese OEM wowed us all by being one of the first (first place goes to the Sharp Aquos Crystal actually) to start the true bezel-less race of smartphones, with the Mi Mix. This time, we’re placing our bets for the new 18:9 aspect ratio device to be the Redmi Pro’s successor. The Redmi Pro is the highest spec’d Redmi device out there currently, and is powered by the deca-core MediaTek Helio X25 chipset.
Redmi will use a LCD display with 18:9

Though the Redmi Pro uses an OLED panel, the leak suggest that the new device display will be based on an LCD panel. Do remember that this is all uncharted rumor territory, so take it with a grain of salt.

Xiaomi has been known to dabble in innovative new concepts as shown in their Mi Mix, so the possibility of an 18:9 device coming out is also pretty realistic. The only gripe we have with Xiaomi is that the company tends to neglect its mid-range lineup and everything below that, in terms of software upgrades. Perhaps we’ll get to see the OEM make an improvement in that area by this year.
