Back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February this year, Samsung showed off the newer Galaxy Beam Android phone, which comes with a full-fledged inbuilt projector which “allows the user to beam a 50″ wide video or image in crisp 640×360 resolution, onto virtually any flat surface”. Now, according to a flash guide document received by Sammobile, it seems Samsung has gone ahead and changed a few specifications, just like they did with the Galaxy Note 10.1.

The camera in the Galaxy Beam has been bumped up to an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording/playback capability, from the 5 megapixel camera that they showed off at MWC. Also, the dual-core processor inside the phone has seen a speed increase to 1.2 GHz from 1.0 Ghz.

Here are the full specifications mentioned in the flash guide:

  • Android OS: Gingerbread + Ice Cream Sandwich later
  • HSPA+ 21Mbps / HSUPA 5.7Mbps
  • 8MP AF with LED Flash
  • Recording definition: 1080p / Playback at 1080p resolution
  • 3.97 WVGA TFT (C-Type)
  • A-GPS / BT v3.0 USB v2.0 / WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) / OTG
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Electromagnetic, Gyro, Light, Proximity
  • Additional:
    • 1.2GHz Dual Core CPU
    • Application store / Precise Motion UI
    • Seamless Sharing Experience.

It seems Samsung is on a mission to ensure that the devices shown off at MWC are upgraded to the latest and greatest when they are actually released. However, it’s possible that the Galaxy Beam may release with the original specifications. Dear Samsung, whatever the case may be, could you please go ahead and release all the devices directly with Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0? That would mean a lot to everybody.
