Sony is sending out a new update for three of its recently launched devices. The new update brings the August security patch for Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra, and L1.

The new update raises the build number to 40.0.A.6.135, 42.0.A.4.101, and 43.0.A.5.79 for Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra, and L1 respectively. The previous build number for Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra and L1 are 40.0.A.6.121, 42.0.A.4.89, and 43.0.A.5.72 respectively.

The update doesn’t bring any change in the operating system. All the devices are still on Android 7.0 Nougat. On the bright side, Sony recently confirmed that Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra will get Oreo update. So, I guess, there won’t be any 7.1 update for these two devices, Sony will most probably update them to Android Oreo directly.

Like other security patches, the update takes care of various security vulnerabilities. It also includes bug fixes and various other performance improvements.

If you haven’t received the update yet, go to Settings – About and tap Software update.
