On Sunday, Alcatel was in the tech headlines for the launch of the OneTouch Idol 3 smartphone in two variants at the MWC 2015 tech show. Today, the vendor has come up with five new devices in the Pixie 3 lineup. Of these, three are tablets with 7 inch displays and two are smartphones with 5.5 inch screens.
Let’s take a look at the devices that were launched by Alcatel in detail below.
Firstly, the smartphones are named Pixie 3 (5.5) 3G and Pixie 3 (5.5) 4G. Of course, the names indicate that difference in the connectivity, but it does not stop there. The 3G variant is given a qHD screen resolution of 960×540 pixels, whereas the 4G model has a HD 720p display. Also, the former uses a MediaTek MT6580 processor while the latter is equipped with a QCT 8909 processor. The other difference is that the 3G model uses a 2,910 mAh battery, whereas there is a 2,800 mAh battery in the 4G variant.
Other than these differences, both the Pixie 3 (5.5) smartphones use a 5.5 inch IPS display, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded further by another 32 GB. There is an 8 MP primary snapper and a 2 MP front facer, both being 5 MP auto focus compatible. They run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and support all the standard connectivity aspects.
On the other hand, the Pixi 3 (7) tablets have different features other than the common 7 inch display with 1024×600 pixel resolution. The trio of tablets has similar storage, camera and battery aspects.
The Pixi 3 (7) Wi-Fi is equipped with a 1.3 GHz quad core MediaTek MT8127 processor paired with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of native storage that can be expanded. The tablet runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and there is a 2 MP main camera and a VGA front facing selfie snapper. Otherwise, there are usual connectivity aspects such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and a 2,820 mAh battery.
The Pixi 3 (7) 3G is energized with a 1.3 GHz dual core MediaTek MT8312 processor and support voice calling with 3G, GPS and OTG connectivity features. The last one, Pixi 3 (7) 4G LTE is given a 1.1 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with a larger 1 GB of RAM. The other aspects of the tablet are the same as in the 3G variant.
