Motorola launched two budget friendly devices this year under the Moto C series. One being the Moto C, and the second is the Moto C Plus. Both the devices cater to the new smartphone users on a budget, who are venturing into the world of smartphones.
While the smaller Moto C features a 5-inch display with a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, MediaTek MT6737M chipset, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB/16GB storage, Moto C Plus features 5-inch HD display and 2GB RAM/16 GB memory. The Moto C features a 2,350mAh battery and the elder brother Moto C Plus features a 4,000mAh removable battery. Like all the new Motorola releases this year, both the devices come with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. Will these devices be lucky enough to taste Oreo? Hmm, read on.

Moto C and C Plus Oreo update release: When to expect
- No word from Motorola on Moto C and C Plus Oreo update yet
- Oreo update not expected
- Unofficial update may come as a custom ROM called LineageOS 15, sometime in October 2017
Well, let us be honest here. Moto C and Moto C Plus are low budget devices. We know it’s going to break your heart, but we don’t think Moto C or C Plus will see an update to Android 8.0, but yes, they might get updated to 7.1.1.

There has been no official word from Motorola yet on any of their devices, but don’t get your hopes high. We are 99% sure they won’t get Oreo update from Motorola.*Sorry guys*
But. But. But. If it lets you sleep at night, you might get to see an unofficial update in the form of custom ROM sometime in October 2017.
Moto C and C Plus Oreo update: What to expect
As already mentioned, it is highly unlikely that Motorola will send Oreo update to Moto C and Moto C Plus. However, Motorola will keep pushing the regular security patches nevertheless.

Besides, since the devices are on 7.0 Nougat, you might get some new features such as app shortcuts from Android 7.1 update.
The unofficial update we talked about above, would be pretty good deal, especially when there seems to be no official update on its way anytime in future. You might encounter some bugs with the Oreo custom ROM for Moto C and C Plus, but we think the ROMs will come out good after some time, and you will indeed get to play Oreo features like picture-in-picture, new Settings app, light theme, new Emojis. etc. stuff.
Do look forward to it — actually, just keep watching this space as we will get you Oreo custom ROMs — probably LineageOS 15 — here once it’s available.
