The next generation of Moto Z series is here, with the upcoming release of the Moto Z2 Play. According to a popular Weibo user, the Z2 Play may be powered by the Snapdragon 630 processor and may carry a price tag of 4000 CNY or $580.

The alleged processor mentioned here was only recently announced along with the Snapdragon 660. This new chipset serves as the successor to the Snapdragon 625 which was known for its excellent power efficiency and powered the original Moto Z play too. Motorola probably intends to continue the trend.

The device has been leaked several times through previous rumors, so we have a general idea of its specs and design. The Moto Z2 Play may retain the Moto Mod functionality and we may even get to see more third party Moto Mods this time.

Coming to the specsheet, the Z2 Play may feature 3GB of RAM to go along with the Snapdragon 630 SoC. The cameras on the device may feature a 12MP main shooter and a 5MP selfie camera. Storage may remain optimal at 32GB. As for the battery, we are hoping that Motorola has optimized the software on board as the device may end up being pretty thin with a smaller battery.

The Moto Z2 Play will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, no doubt about that. The retail price of 4000 CNY seems apt as the current gen device also sold at around the same rate. Previous leaks also suggest that the Moto shells are staying so you should have a good range of color options to choose from too.
