Seems like Motorola is now testing the Android 7.0 Nougat update on Moto X Play as the device was just spotted running a Android 7.0 firmware with Motoblur on GFXBench.
Motoblur is the customized software experience that comes on all Motorola devices. The GFXBench listing showing a Nougat firmware with Motoblur means this is an official Motorola firmware, not the AOSP Nougat builds that have been available unofficially for the device for quite a while.
The GFXBench listing also reveals the spotted Moto X Play Nougat firmware to be a userdebug build, giving us further proof of it being a test build only.
Earlier this month, Motorola pushed out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to Moto G4 and G4 Plus in India and other parts of the world.
While we wish Motorola releases Android 7.1.1 on the Moto X Play instead of Android 7.0, but it’s still as great as it can be. The company will probably start working on the 7.1.1 update once it’s done pushing out Nougat to the eligible devices first.
