Motorola released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Moto X Pure/Style and Moto X 2nd Gen. earlier this week, and the next Moto device to get the freshest release of Android will most probably be the recently launched Moto X Play.

However, Motorola hasn’t provided a release date yet for the Marshmallow update Moto X Play devices, and if you’re anything like us, we guess you’re already looking for ways to get Android 6.0 running on your device right this instance.

Well, luckily for you, developer squid2 over at xda has just released an unofficial build of CM13 for Moto X Play. You can install this ROM right away and have Marshmallow running all over your device.

Also, since this is the first CM13 build for Moto X Play, certain things are still broken on the ROM. Check the list of bugs/issues by squid2 below:

  • Torch and chop-chop gesture
  • GPS? Seems to work without GApps.
  • SEPolicy is permissive
  • All the bugs in CyanogenMod 13

Since CM13 is an AOSP based ROM, you’ll also need a Marshmallow compatible Gapps package to use Google services. But the current Moto X Play CM13 build seems to have stability issues with Gapps, but you still may give it a shot.

Interested? Grab the Moto X Play CM13 ROM from the download link below and simply flash it via TWRP recovery along with a Marshmallow compatible Gapps package.

Also, FYI, CyanogenMod ROMs come pre-rooted but don’t have root enabled by default. If you need root access, you can simply enable it from developer options. Check the link below for details:
