The second generation Moto E smartphone has started receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. The OTA update measures 250 MB in size and it will make its way into the Moto E (Gen 2) units across the world.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop update is a minor firmware update to the Moto E (Gen 2) that is preinstalled with Android Lollipop. The latest update is aimed to bring bug fixes and improvements to the performance of the device. It will also bring some changes to the notification system and support to native dual SIM, which was already present in the smartphone.

Though the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto E (Gen 2) is a minor one, it is important to install it as it will bring in several enhancements including security updates.

To remind you of its specifications, the Moto E (Gen 2) has a 4.5 inch qHD IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it is powered by a 64 bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 or Snapdragon 200 processor and 1 GB of RAM.

The device features a 5 MP main camera with auto focus and a VGA front facer and packs in 8 GB of native storage capacity that can be expanded further using a micro SD card. It supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS and a 2,390 mAh battery powers the device.
