What we have here is leak of new found-in-the-wild pictures of the upcoming Mi Max 2 from Xiaomi. There’s hardly two more days left for Xiaomi to officially take the wraps of this smartphone. The device has cleared a handful of certification agencies and is gearing for launch now. We can clearly see the new antenna line placement and get a feel of the size of the device too.
Based on what we’ve gathered from various rumors and leaks, the device may feature a large 6.4-inch display and be powered by the Snapdragon 626 chipset with 4GB or even 6GB of RAM. The 6.4-inch display however, may come down to 6-inch according to a few conflicting rumors. The device may also feature a 12MP rear shooter, 5MP selfie camera, and a large 5000mAh juice pack.
Save for the SoC on board, the specs look pretty great. The current gen Mi Max runs on the more powerful Snapdragon 650 processor. Nevertheless, the Snapdragon 626 is extremely power efficient and in a way stays true to the nature of the Mi Max, which is to save battery (though, coupled with a 5000mAh battery is certainly overkill).

Xiaomi will continue using the all metal build for the Mi Max 2 and the fingerprint sensor would be found at front of the device. Originally, we had hoped that the Chinese OEM would ship the Mi Max 2 with MIUI 9 on board, but that rumor turned out to be baseless in the end.
The device may also come in a more powerful variant featuring the Snapdragon 660 SoC, but this too needs to be taken with a grain of salt. We have no official word on the pricing yet, but we’ll find out pretty soon.
