On Tuesday, Microsoft confirmed that it will be releasing the Windows 10 platform this summer. Besides this, the software giant also announced that it will be working in collaboration with the Chinese firm Xiaomi to provide a flashable ROM in the Mi 4 units.

This way, the Xiaomi Mi 4 users can test the Windows 10 for phones platform on their smartphones. As per reports, this program is focused to be rolled out on a wider scale.

As of now, there are no details from both Microsoft and Xiaomi about the Windows 10 software trailed on Mi 4 units. It is suggested by the report that this is a move taken to override Android and turn the Xiaomi device into a Windows 10 based one with the complete package of Microsoft services.

The report goes on stating that the software will not have a dual boot option that was carried out by Microsoft previously in India. This new software will be a ROM that is based on Windows 10 and it will operate similar to Cyanogen and other custom ROMs that are similar to Baidu and Tencent in China.

It is claimed that this flashable ROM will be beyond the Android apps launched by Microsoft and it will provide a native Windows experience on the devices that run on Android platform. The concept seems to be highly powerful and it is expected to be tested in China where consumers tend to install ROMs to a great extent.

It goes on stating that the Redmond based software giant has great plans to roll out this software on more devices gradually with time. It is starting with Xiaomi as the firm has a strong user community who come up with feedbacks on the firm’s weekly software updates. The receptive audience of Xiaomi seems to be the ideal ones for this pilot by Microsoft.
