Meizu’s flagship product, the Pro 7, has been under the rumor radar for a while now. And once again it has popped up on the news horizon with its source code files leaked, revealing what it will carry under the hood. Surprisingly, banishing past reports the source code files show that the Meizu Pro 7 will be powered by a MediaTek processor and not a Qualcomm chipset.
So, the Meizu Pro 7 will be the first smartphone to pack a MediaTek MT6799 Helio X30 processor, which was introduced during the Mobile World Congress event this year. Meizu has followed the trend of introducing MediaTek chipsets with its flagship smartphones as was seen last year when Meizu Pro 6 got powered by Helio X25. With Helio X30, which has been manufactured using 10 nm process, we will find a deca-core processor on board the flagship Meizu phone.
The source code files also reveal a rear dual camera set up for the Pro 7 phone with Sony IMX386 and IMX286 image sensors of 12MP each and a 16MP selfie snapper powered by Samsung S5K368 sensor which is the same one used on OnePlus 3T and Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017). This will be the first Meizu phone to flaunt dual cameras.
But what has really made us sit up and take notice of the leaked code is the mention of a Dual Display on Pro 7 which could either be a secondary screen as seen on HTC U Ultra and LG V series phones or it could be mean a dual curved edge display or even an ‘Always-on’ feature kind of stuff.
Past rumors have suggested that the Meizu Pro 7 will come in three storage options — one with 4GB RAM and 64 GB ROM priced at 3299 yuan, the other with 6GB RAM and 128 GB ROM priced at 3599 yuan and the third and premium variant priced 3799 yuan with 8G RAM and 128GB ROM.
