As expected, Meizu took the wraps off the highly anticipated flagship smartphone Meizu MX5 today. The device features a full metal jacked as it was teased in the invites sent by the firm. This makes the Meizu MX5 a premium smartphone with solid build quality and upgraded aspects than the ones on the MX4 Pro.
The core hardware of the Meizu MX5 comprises of a 64 bit octa core MediaTek MT6975 chipset that is backed by 3 GB of RAM. The device will arrive in three variants – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of native storage capacities. Also, there is support for expandable memory with the help of a micro SD card.
The Meizu smartphone is bestowed with a 5.5 inch AMOLED display with Full HD 1080p resolution. The imaging hardware of the MX5 includes a 20 MP main snapper at its back with the Sony IMX220 sensor and laser auto focus, and an 8 MP front facing selfie shooter as well.
The Meizu MX5 houses a 3,150 mAh battery that should power the gigantic display. Furthermore, the firm has incorporated the mCharge technology that will provide fast charging to the device. This feature is claimed to pump 25 percent battery life in just ten minutes of charging and 50 percent of battery life in 20 minutes of charging.
The Meizu device measures 7.6 mm thin and weighs in at 149 grams. These figures are definitely an achievement for a device with a 5.5 inch display.
Software wise, the Meizu MX5 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop wrapped with its latest Flyme 5.0 overlay. This new version of the Meizu interface is a visual overhaul with glass effects, transparency, themes and more.
When it comes to the pricing, the 16 GB variant of the Meizu MX5 is priced at 1800 Yuan (approx. $290), the 32 GB variant is priced at 1999 Yuan (approx. $322) and the 64 GB version for a price 2399 Yuan (approx. $387).
