Targeting smartphones dedicated towards photography, MediaTek has launched its latest addition to the Helio P series mobile processor family. The Helio P25, an evolution of the P20, combines dual-camera support with power-saving technology and advanced multimedia capabilities.

Smartphones with MediaTek Helio P25 under the hood are expected to enter the market in Q1 2017.

The new chipset on the block comes with MediaTek Imagiq, a superior Image Signal Processor (ISP) technology, which is capable of offering the following features: Pioneering Resolution of up to 24MP single camera or 13MP+13MP dual camera; Dual Camera-optimized Color + Mono de-noise and real-time shallow DoF bokeh; High Dynamic Range of Video HDR with full preview and High Performance Auto Exposure of Turbo 3A to accelerate AE convergence speed by 30-55%.

Commenting on its performance, Jeffrey Ju, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer at MediaTek remarked, ‘MediaTek Helio P25 paves the way for high-resolution and feature-rich smartphone cameras that enable amazing static shots and 4K2K videos.’

The new MediaTek SoC is based on ARM Mali-T880 dual GPU clocked at up to 900MHz which is perfect for demanding video and gaming applications. It also comes with Octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 2.5GHz enabling it to deliver more power while using less energy.

MediaTek Helio P25 supports low power double data rate random access memory (LPDDR4x) up to 6GB and enhanced uploads in LTE.
