The global units of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are receiving new software updates that not only install the latest security patch but also improve the stability of the camera.
Samsung started rolling out the updates a few days ago, where the standard S8 is getting version G950FXXU4DSE4 while the S8+ is receiving it as version G955FXXU4DSE4.
In the changelog, Samsung says the two phones are receiving camera stability improvements, but it doesn’t go into specifics of what kind of improvements to expect.
As for the security patch, you get the latest version available – May 2019. The software is based on Android 9 Pie, the OS the devices will remain on forever unless you go the custom ROM way.
These are OTA updates and as usual, such rollouts take time, probably days, before all units receive the download notification, so be patient if it hasn’t arrived on your end yet.
