Samsung had announced way back in July that the original Galaxy Tab 8.9″ WiFi would be getting the official bump-up to Android 4.0. After a long wait, it looks like Malaysian users of the first generation Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi GT-P7310 are in for some mid-week cheer. Samsung has been slowly but surely pushing out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to the older members of its Galaxy Tab family.
While the US versions of the 8.9 incher Tab had already started receiving the official update to ICS way back in late August, Malaysian Tab 8.9 owners can now get a taste of official Ice Cream Sandwich goodness on their devices. The P7310DXLP7 update brings the device up to Android version 4.0.4. Ice Cream Sandwich brings overall performancec improvement and power efficiency on your device, in addition to new features such as Face Unlick, better multi-tasking, resizable widgets, a much improved camera app, redesigned notifications system and a lot more.
Users can update their devices via either of the three methods listed below:
- OTA (Over the air) – You should automatically receive a system notification, and clicking it will start the update process. OR you can go to Settings –> About Tablet –> Software Updates –> Update and check for the update manually
- Samsung KIES – You can connect your device to your Windows PC and update it through KIES.
- Manual Flash through Odin – You can download the official DXLP7 from the Sammobile firmware download page and flash it manually.
Sammobile recommends either updating your device OTA or via KIES. So go ahead and check that notification bar, or fire up KIES and give your Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi a taste of some Ice Cream Sandwich,
