Although we never doubted it, but OnePlus promised us the Lollipop update for OnePlus One within 90 days of final release by Google. But well, it seems the company has missed the deadline.

OnePlus Co-founder Carl Pei took to twitter today and said – Lollipop update for the OnePlus One is further postponed to March. Carl said “a more stable build (OxygenOS & CM12S) will need to wait until March. Sorry for delay!”

We suspect the dispute between OnePlus and Cyanogen Inc. in India is also the reason Lollipop update is being delayed on the device. Late last year, Cyanogen Inc. broke business with OnePlus and made it public that the company will not provide software assistance and updates to OnePlus One devices sold in India. To counter that, OnePlus decided to develop its own Oxygen OS to keep its business going.

It’s still not official which regions will get the Lollipop update in CM 12S flavor. But we’re confident that OnePlus will put the Oxygen OS update option open for all OnePlus One users, no matter the region.
