October 31, 2019: This year’s Halloween is turning out to be extra special of LG V20 users. LG, who wasn’t showing much interest in rolling out Android 9 Pie to the dated V-series flagship, has finally made the update live in South Korea. All of the customary Android Pie features are part of the package, while the device’s security has also been bolstered, thanks to the October 2019 security patch.
The update is only available for K(F800K30e)/S(F800S30e)/L(F800L30e) variant as of now.
January 19, 2019: There had been fears that LG will no longer be rolling out updates to the V20, but the company has reassured consumers that the device will be upgraded to Android 9 Pie in Q3 2019.
The wait for Android Oreo was pretty long, so it doesn’t surprise us that the wait for the Pie will be equally long. For a phone that came out in Q3 2016, it remains to be seen how many will still be using it then.

The LG V20 has been around since 2016, but the flagship phone is still eligible for at least one more major OS upgrade. The device came pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat, going down in history as the first to launch with Nougat out of the box, even ahead of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

LG V20 Android 9 Pie update
Android 9 update: Expected in Q3 2019
Android Oreo was the first major OS upgrade for the LG V20 and hence an update to Pie was only a question of when. Well, LG says the V20 will be ready to switch to Pie in Q3 2019, but we don’t know the exact date.

Despite being the first to debut with Nougat out of the box, the LG V20 has been stagnant on Android Nougat for over two years, but finally, the device made the switch to Android 8.0 Oreo beginning late July 2018 in Korea.
