You don’t get to hear this very often, but someone managed to upgrade the RAM on a LG Nexus 5X from 2GB to 4GB. Yes, you read that right.
An XdaDevelopers member had a problem with his Nexus 5X, the cause of which was a bad CPU. The official LG service center in Hong Kong, where the device was bought from, denied to replace the CPU for the user. That’s when he contacted a local repair service in China, who agreed to fix his device.
The user sent his device to China, and while changing the CPU, the technician advised to upgrade the RAM as well. This is because the RAM and the CPU are packed together. The repair was a success and the user now has an LG Nexus 5X with 4GB of RAM.
Recently, the user also managed to install Android 7.1.1, and everything is working perfectly, including the extra RAM. The repair cost him $60, which is pretty good as it brought new life to the dead Nexus 5X.

Well, that is quite a upgrade :p
well it came as a surprise, I didn’t know it was even possible to upgrade a phones RAM externally, but I sure want to see these services in India as well!!
Lol in India the people are more likely to take off the parts and replace them with cheaper ones knowing our service shops lol .Our best bet for quality service would be either an authorized service center or a well trusted chain of service shops
I remember reading about this on the android subreddit on reddit. The user seemed really happy with the resulting effect. For a two year old device with 2 GB RAM ever, the 5x has remained exceedingly snappy and smooth as far as I have seen. I suppose it is the stock android effect along with the latest software.

That’s a very impressive upgrade, I can’t believe the device still worked after such a serious upgrade.

I remember when Nexus’ used to rule the XDA sections as they were the best for modding .This guy is clinging onto that phone and got a very deserving upgrade .Although its not safe to do so .
