In our last article, we told you about LG’s plans to unveil the next G series smartphone on the 29th of April along with its offer of free screen replacement and a 64GB micro SD card for all those who pre-order the device in Korea.
Well, as promised today we bring you more on the G4 — courtesy a report from Business Korea. According to the said report, the G4 may just sport a curved screen. While nothing revolutionary, curved screens are definitely non-generic and the news of the G4 sporting one comes as a pleasant surprise considering that up till now we have found these screens to add to the device rather than take from it.
For those who are wondering why nothing was said on the topic earlier, even though renders and even live pictures of the device have been doing the rounds of the internet, the radius of curvature — cited as 3000 mm in the report — is what contributes to the curve being less noticeable and the curve that was noticed thought to be merely in order to provide an enhanced grip.
While most of the device is pretty standard flagship material, there are certain differences. For example, instead of the latest by Qualcomm, the device sports a Snapdragon 808 chipset which while slower as compared to the 810 may contribute towards the device being lighter on the pockets. Also, unlike its competiton from Samsung etc. the device does feature a removable battery with a pretty impressive capacity of 3000 mAh.
As for the rest, there is a 5.5” True HD IPS QHD resolution display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and a 16 MP wide-angle camera while memory wise you will get 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage — with the option to increase it via micro-SD — along with the device.
Well, it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how LG’s latest fares in face of competition from other flagships — particularly the Galaxy S6 and company — in its bid to woo customers, and what makes them pick one over the other. For now, we await the G series scion as it gets ready to see the daylight very soon.
