The Velvet Shade clue needed to join the sect in Where Winds Meet unlocks at level 10+ in Kaifeng, linking to quests like Shadows in Bloom and Gathering of Heroes. Joining this hidden sect demands the marriage-divorce method at Crimson Cliff with Shi Yimo—or maxing Elegance Points via cosmetics (global-unavailable for now).

Please note that we keep updating this guide as we progress through the game. Stay tuned to learn more about hidden weapons in Where Winds Meet!

How to get the Velvet Shade Clue

The Velvet Shade clue becomes available once you hit level 10 or higher—the minimum needed to unlock sects. It won't appear until you reach Kaifeng and is linked to two quests: Shadows in Bloom and Gathering of Heroes.

How to join Velvet Shade Sect

There are two methods to join the Velvet Shade Sect, though one remains unavailable in the global version of the game.

Marriage and Divorce Method

The sole current way to join the Velvet Shade sect uses the game's marriage system.

To get married, seek a date or partnership if you don't already have another player. Write and post three letters online at Shi Yimo using the Seeking Fate chat—any online player can read them and start a date. This builds intimacy points over time, leading to marriage. You can send up to three letters daily.

Once acquainted with another player, reach Intimacy Level 2: Companions to unlock marriage.

To increase Intimacy points, the ways which work the best are through gifts like Green Ant Wine (150 points) or Peach Branch (125 points), earned from quests or bought in the Wandering Paths shop. Teaming up for co-op play also steadily raises your bond in Where Winds Meet.

Once partnered with another player, head to Crimson Cliff and speak to Shi Yimo to exchange vows.

Return to her afterward to request a partnership severance and divorce your partner. Wait out the 24-hour cooldown, then visit Shi Yimo again to complete the divorce for 50,000 coins.

You'll soon receive a Velvet Shade sect invitation. If it doesn't show up, simply remarry another player to trigger it.

Maximize Elegance Points

Equip your character with as many cosmetics as possible while awaiting the sect invitation. Note that online forums indicate this method is currently unavailable in the global version.
