May 18th may see the HTC EVO 4G LTE getting released on Sprint’s network, online as well as in Sprint’s retail stores. The information comes from an unnamed source at Sprint, who Android and Me regards as being a trustworthy source who has provided solid information in the past.

For the uninformed, the HTC EVO 4G LTE is basically the HTC One X, but with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz processor instead of a quad-core Tegra 3, and with 4G LTE capabilities. Sprint will soon be launching their 4G network with the release of the Galaxy Nexus.

The May 18 release date could be true, as pre-orders for the HTC EVO 4G LTE are set to begin on May 7th. However, as Sprint released both the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper on a Sunday, releasing the EVO 4G LTE on a Friday would seem a little out of whack. But as the rumor’s source suggest, May 18 is the official date, which is in keeping with a previous rumor by PhoneDog which also suggested the same.

Of course, now all one can do is wait for the official announcement by Sprint, as the May 7 pre-order date comes closer. Stay tuned for further information!
