Apple released the fourth beta of iOS 18.2 to developers today. The beta shows off several new features coming to iPhones next month.
The update brings Apple Intelligence features to compatible iPhones.
- ChatGPT now works through Siri and a new AI Assistant app. You can use it offline to ask questions and get writing help.
- You can create images using Image Playground in Animation or Illustration styles.
- Genmoji lets you make custom emojis by describing them in text.
- Writing Tools now includes a compose button to generate text content. You can specify changes you want to make to the generated text.
- The camera can now identify objects around you, while Notes can turn basic sketches into finished images.
- Mail now sorts your emails automatically into Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions folders.
- The update adds a Volume Limit option in Settings and new Find My features for sharing item locations.
- Photos now handles videos better.
Only developers can test these features now, with public testing starting soon. The AI features work only on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and future iPhone 16 models. Users must set their device language to specific English variants. The service remains unavailable in the EU and China.
