It’s not just making some of the best phones that has propelled Huawei to the number three spot in global smartphone shipments, but the sheer number of phones the company churns out every year is also a major contributing factor.
Although the Huawei P20 family is on every Huawei fan’s lips, the company has more in stock to cater for those who can’t afford the big bucks needed for the big boys. One of the phones in question is the Huawei Y5 2018, the successor to last year’s model that was announced in April, a month that is already here.
Like you’d expect whenever a device’s launch cycle nears, details of the Huawei Y5 2018 are now upon us, including the expected specs, some features, and even the price, all of which we’ve shared below.
Huawei Y5 2018 specs and features
- 5.45-inch 18:9 HD+ display
- MediaTek MT6739 processor
- 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage
- 8MP back camera and 5MP front camera
- 3000mAh battery
- Android 8.0 Oreo (EMUI 8.0)
Huawei has been throwing around devices in all market segments with the new 18:9 full view display screen, which doesn’t surprise us when we see that the Y5 2018 is set to join the party, too. The specs sheet might not be the most impressive one around, although this should be reflected in the phone’s price.

Huawei Y5 2018 price and availability
As noted earlier, last year’s Huawei Y5 was unveiled in April and availability started in June. Since April is here, it’s only reasonable to expect a repeat of the same for the Huawei Y5 2018. However, the company will obviously take care of business in the premium segment first before moving down to the entry-level market, which is where the Y5 2018 is headed.
Looking at the expected specs of the Y5 2018, it’s not surprising to see that it will be sold for about €129. However, the tipster notes that this price may change, but we don’t expect any drastic departure from this figure.
Huawei Y series is sold mostly in Asia, some parts of Europe and Africa. We don’t expect anything different for the Y5 2018.
