Huawei is proving wrong the argument that skins slow down software updates. In addition to being among the few OEMs to have upgraded multiple devices to Android Oreo, including some from 2016, Huawei is also doing a pretty impressive job of ensuring these devices remain safe and secure.

In the latest slew of updates, the Huawei P9, P9 Plus, P10 Lite, P9 Lite, P8 Lite (2017) as well as the Honor 8 are receiving this month’s Android security patches. Google published March’s bulletin on Monday 5 and it has only taken Huawei a couple of days to start dishing out the update to the said phones.

Since they are rolling out over the air, it’ll take a few days before everyone gets the OTA notification. Also, Huawei sells multiple variants of the same device in different markets, which could further slow down the updates.

In short, the wait for the OTA notification may extend to end of next week. Meanwhile, you can try a manual upgrade via the About phone menu in the settings.
