We all know people are waiting impatiently to get the official update to Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” on their HTC One X, but HTC hasn’t yet announced even a tentative time frame of the update’s arrival. HTC is however working on the update, and one lucky developer from XDA has gotten his hands on a pre-release version and has previewed it on video.

XDA Recognized Contributor Football, famous for his One maXimus series of custom ROMs for various HTC devices, has uploaded a video on YouTube of his ROM running on the One X, based on the official Android 4.1 firmware from HTC. From what can be gathered from the video, the ROM works pretty well and also features Sense 4.5, the latest version of HTC’s Sense UI (which is supposed to be a minor upgrade). Right now, except for calling, GPS and internet sharing, everything seems to be working well, so an official rollout could happen soon though we wouldn’t hold our horses on that considering delays can always occur.

Even without the official update from HTC coming out, people who don’t mind flashing custom ROMs should be able to try the official Jelly Bean firmware thanks to Football’s One maXimum ROM, which we hope he releases soon. Samsung Galaxy S3 owners have enjoying a steady stream of Android 4.1 update leaks, and it seems One X owners might also get finally a taste of the official HTC Android 4.1 update.

Without further ado, here’s the video:
