HTC One M9 is all set to get official at the company’s “Utopia in Progress” event on 1st March, at MWC 2015. However, the promotional videos of the device that leaked earlier today have pretty much put out a lot of details about the device, and also confirmed the design that we saw on the pictures that leaked earlier this week.
And while HTC official Jeff Gordon still claims that we’ve “NO IDEA” of what’s coming next from HTC, a former HTC Product Manager Leigh Momii seems to agree with the leaked promotional videos. She posted the following on her twitter account “the whole cat is out of the bag…no surprise there…i’ll probably get the gunmetal/black m9 :)”.
Now with Leigh Momii confirming the authenticity of the leaked promotional videos, we know we already have a wealth of information on the features of HTC One M9, so here’s a quick round-up of things that the leaked video reveals.
HTC ONE M9 FEATURES
Camera enhancements
The Eye experience software and recent adoption of 5MP front camera on all of its mid-range to high-end phones was a good hint from the Taiwanese manufacturer that it’s giving a lot of attention to the Camera experience on its smartphones. The leaked promotional videos of HTC One M9 further proves that as HTC demonstrated a number of new features on camera part. Let’s take a look.
Slightly re-designed camera app
Nothing much of it was shown here, but we’re sure you’ll find new interface elements on the Sense 7 based camera app from HTC.
New Camera Effects
Remember the Face Fusion effect from Eye experience update? Well, with the HTC One M9 you’ll get 5 more camera effects like that, one of which will be called Shapes, which basically fuses two pictures in a particular shape (think triangles or random shapes).
There’s also one another effect that puts animated stuff on your pictures like snow, water bubbles, and a few more things.
Also, one more effect for which I’m not even able to guess a suitable name, but HTC demonstrated it as fusing a girl’s selfie with a flower’s picture. The result came out pretty cool.
New Theme Engine
Customization is one of the major reason people look forward to Android as iPhone ridiculously sucks at that. And it seems HTC has taken that seriously and is going to offer a great OS wide theming experience on its next flagship and Sense 7.0 UI.
The new theme engine on HTC One M9 magically changes the entire skin of OS. There are lots of pre-defined color options, but what surprises us the most is the feature that you can give the new theme engine a picture, and it’ll automatically detect colors from the picture and generate a theme on-the-fly based on those colors. The leaked promotional video shows a girl taking picture of a dress and then have her HTC One M9 themed to the color of that dress. Brilliant feature!
Location aware launcher
The new Sense 7 UI on HTC One M9 will feature a location aware launcher that will show you apps based on your location. The new launcher will now also show meal time suggestions right on your homescreen.
Dual-tone design
HTC One M9 will feature a dual tone design, much like the design philosophy we saw in some of HTC’s recent launches in the Desire series of devices, but only more premium and completely in metal. The sides of the device will carry a different color tone.
Brushed Metal
This looks gorgeous.
Vastly improved front camera for selfies
The HTC One M9 is rumored to have the 4MP Ultrapixel camera on front with enhancements to take great selfies even in low light.
HTC Boomsound with Dolby Audio Surround
HTC One M9 will have an even better front speakers with Dolby Audio Surround technology.
