HTC bombarded the market with its premium HTC One M8 device with stylish metallic design. However the device is high-end and priced at a greater price tag, so is limited to certain class of the market. However, HTC is now offering the top-notch features available in the HTC One M8 at a lower price tag to attract the audience from moderate budget class. HTC has announced the HTC One E8 today with a Polycarbonate build ditching the metallic design of M8 for cost-cutting.
The new Smartphone retains most of the top-notch features of the M8, but compromised some of its features and design. The primary change that one could notice is the lack of Dual Camera setup which is featured on the HTC M8, however the HTC E8 is equipped with a single 13 MP camera module with the f/2.2 aperture and it is more likely to be the same camera that is already found on the HTC One Mini 2. Another area that the HTC targeted is the design, the HTC E8 comes with a Polycarbonate shell which is a downgrade to the metallic design on M8, however it is one of the most likely area to cut the cost.
HTC E8 will be available in four colors – Blue, Red, Black and White colors which will add to the device’s response in the market. However, HTC didn’t make the device much cheaper in terms of its looks as matte finished shell gives a good grip, avoid smudges and also adds to the beauty of the device. The WiFi module is also downgraded in the E8 by cutting the 802.11ac cabability which is found on the M8 device.
HTC retained the premium specs like the 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB RAM, and 5 inch Full HD display. The HTC E8 is a little bit thicker with a 9.85 mm while compared to the 9.35 mm of M8 but it is lighter when compared to M8 (145 gms), this must be due to the downgrade to plastic which loses the weight of metallic shell. The battery however remains the same which is 2600 mAh battery, so does the Android 4.4.2 KitKat version which is decorated with HTC’s home-grown Sense UI 6. A 16 GB internal memory is provided onboard which can be expanded through microSD slot
Design-wise the power button is shifted to the top center position rather than placing it to the top-left or top-right. The 3.5 mm jack and USB port retain at the bottom and the volume rocker on the right side of the phone. HTC E8 features most of the sensors present in M8, like the barometer, pedometer etc…
