Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product management, just took to twitter to announce targeted release date of One E8 Marshmallow update, set at mid-July 2016.

Yep, that’s around 9 months later than when Nexus devices received the Android 6.0 update right after its release by Google, but we guess today’s announcement by HTC will still bring some cheers from usually-upset-these-days-over-update-one-e8-users.

With 2GB RAM and Snapdragon 801 processor on-board, One E8 is quite capable to run Marshmallow, like it does KitKat and Lollipop.

One would expect HTC to be quicker with updates, but the company’s performance has been very disappointing, especially with mid-range devices.

Though, that should improve. With HTC 10, the company has slimmed down the software to bare-necessary levels, giving us plenty of hopes as regards quicker Nexus-like updates. We hope all 2016 HTCs get similar software treatment to allow for quicker updates.

If HTC launches an E-series device this year, on the same lines of software as HTC 10, that device should be receiving updates way quicker than E8.
