It looks like full HD 1080p displays are the flavour of the month, after Sharp showed off its high PPI 5 inch 1080p displays earlier this month, and specs for HTC’s Droid Incredible X and the Chinese Oppo Find 5, revealing 5 inch 1080p displays.
HTC has now unveiled the HTC J Butterfly in Japan, and it packs a 5 inch screen at 1920 x 1080 resolution too. This new screen technology is reportedly called Super LCD 3, and packs in a whopping 440 pixels per inch, taking the clarity and sharpness of the display to a different level altogether. The HTC J Butterfly will come in 3 colors: red, white and black & HTC is expecting to launch it in December
Have a peek at the official Specs for the HTC J Butterfly:

We do know that the HTC J Butterfly would be available through KDDI Japan, but exact release dates and pricing is not out yet. Also, there is no information on whether the HTC Butterfly would see a European or US launch. Well, at least now we can be sure that 1080p displays on phones are a reality, and with the new Nexus program opening up to multiple OEMs, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Nexus phone in the near future packing this awesome display tech.
