HTC just announced its latest low-end android phone, the HTC Explorer, which target entry level market segment with features that have mostly gone now, except the Android 2.3 OS HTC’s shipping it with.

Specifications: It’s powered by a meager 600MHz processor, and has 3.2 inch screen, Android 2.3, 512MB RAM and 3 MP camera as chief specs. Sure, you’ve already smelled what HTC Explorer is all about — giving HTC a strong base in entry level phones market, where comparatively smaller companies have begun their assault on the market share.

HTC still sells Wildfire and Wildfire S in low-end and mid-range category of android phones but we think the Explorer will replace Wildfire with Explorer, with the latter’s price even lower than the Wildfire, let alone the Wildfire S.

Price: Expected Price to us is around 100 to 150 pounds in UK while in other markets 100 to 150 Euros. That’s contract-free btw.

HTC Explorer will be available in 3 colors: Metallic Black, Active Black and Metallic Navy (it’s possible you’re left guessing with these names but that’s that). Want more colors, HTC got you covered as the company will have back covers for Explorer in these 4 colors: metallic Orange, metallic Blue, metallic White, metallic Purple.

HTC Explorer will be released sometime in Q4 this year — which isn’t far. And in UK, Three is lining up to become first carrier to release HTC Explorer.
