Looks like HTC‘s 5-inch “phablet”, supposed to be called the Droid Incredible X, is real and on its way to the customers soon, as the device has passed certification for its communication networks at the GCF. Also, thanks to Twitter user @Football, known for his accurate rumors on HTC devices in the past, we may have confirmation of the device’s specs as well, which include a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor and a 5-inch display with an ultra-high 1920×1080 resolution.

With Samsung already having released the Galaxy Note 2 and having a good lead in the “larger than 5″ phones” market, the pressure is on other manufacturers to come up with competing devices, and at least HTC seems ready to do that with the Droid Incredible X (LG wasn’t quite able to make a dent with the LG Intuition). How well it is able to fare against the Galaxy Note remains to be seen, though with the specs that the Incredible X carries, it should do quite well.
