Sorry Verizon customers, your exclusivity with that 1080p display on the Droid DNA will be short-lived, as HTC has finally announced the HTC Butterfly, the international variant of the Droid DNA, or rather, the international variant of the Japan-only HTC J Butterfly if you go by the name.

The most attractive aspect of the HTC Butterfly is no doubt that 5-inch Super LCD3 Full HD display with a pixel density of 441 ppi, making it currently the sharpest display in the smartphone world, along with the amazing quality and clarity of the Super LCD display of HTC’s found on the One X.

There’s also the powerful quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor inside, which has been proven to be a beast in benchmarks and easily copes up with the demands on that high resolution display. HTC has also seen it fit to add a microSD slot into the mix, which is missing from the Japan and Verizon variants that only come with a lowly 16GB of storage.

Here’s a list of the complete specs of the HTC Butterfly:

  • 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 5-inch Super LCD3 display (1920 x 1080 pixels)
  • 8 megapixel rear camera, 1080p video recording
  • 2.1 megapixel front camera
  • 16GB storage, microSD slot
  • Wi-Fi, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS + GLONASS, NFC
  • 2,020mAh battery
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, HTC Sense 4+ UI

The pricing or availability dates haven’t been announced, but I’m sure we’ll get those important details soon. HTC might not be doing too good in the smartphone business lately, but with a device like the HTC Butterfly now incoming for the international market, let’s hope their fortunes turn around in the next fiscal quarter.

So, who’s getting this beauty?
