Roaring Sands, the newest region in Where Winds Meet, launches in 1.1 Update of December 2025. It invites players into a sweeping desert frontier filled with lore, exploration, and fresh narrative threads.

Whether you're a returning adventurer or stepping into Kaifeng’s outskirts for the first time, unlocking this region is simple but essential before diving into its mysteries.

This walkthrough breaks down exactly how to access Roaring Sands, meet the Wayfarer, and obtain the map that opens the path forward.

How to unlock Roaring Sands in WWM

Make your way to the Wayfarer in Roaring Sands. This Wayfarer is from the Heaven Division.

Talk to the Wayfarer and ask him about the map he is making. He tells you that the map is easy to draw, but the thousand-mile landscape is not easy to achieve.

After a short conversation, he finally hands you the map of Roaring Sands in Kaifeng. This unlocks the region for exploration.

Why can't you unlock Roaring Sands yet

Here are some reasons why you cannot unlock Roaring Sands in Where Winds Meet:

Requirement 1 - Progress the Main Story

You must advance the main quest to the chapter that explicitly sends you west toward the desert. The sandstorm barrier at the border won’t lift until that story trigger plays.

What to do:

  1. Open your Main Quest log.
  2. Continue story missions until one references traveling west, caravans, or desert exploration.
  3. Once this desert intro quest triggers and you complete its initial step, the barrier will drop.

Requirement 2 - Solo Level

Even after story progression, the region-entry quest will not appear unless your Solo Level is high enough (because Roaring Sands is a high-difficulty frontier). If the quest doesn’t show up, level up through:

  • Daily quests
  • Bounties/mini bosses
  • Exploration and cultivation tasks
  • Other content that gives XP and Stored XP

What to expect in Roaring Sands

While we explore the new area, here are some key characteristics we have observed so far:

  • Harsh sandstorms that change visibility and sometimes reveal hidden entrances or shift terrain.
  • Ancient desert ruins packed with puzzles, traps, buried lore, and treasure chambers.
  • New enemies & desert beasts like bandits, wolves, scorpions, and elite ruin guardians.
  • Mirage-based side quests and mystical encounters that appear only in certain weather or time.
  • Hidden caves and secrets uncovered by exploring dunes, climbing ruins, or digging in marked spots.

With the Roaring Sands map in hand, your journey into dunes, secrets, and sky-high vistas truly begins. Explore boldly, follow new story clues, and uncover everything this region adds to Where Winds Meet. The adventure only gets richer from here.
