What to know
- Full gear, weapon, and cosmetic trading is not available in the global version
- Limited player-to-player trading exists for specific collectibles only
- Trading requires online mode or co-op play and direct interaction
- Both players must confirm offers to complete an exchange
Where Winds Meet includes multiplayer elements, but its trading system is intentionally restricted. If you’re trying to swap items with friends, it helps to understand exactly what is and isn’t possible in the current global build.
How player trading works in the global version
The global version does not feature a traditional trade window or marketplace. You cannot freely exchange weapons, armor, skins, crafting materials, or currency with other players.
Instead, the game allows limited collectible exchanges, mainly designed to help players complete specific collection sets. These are typically duplicate collectibles, such as food bowls tied to collection or side activities.
This system is meant to support cooperation without disrupting progression balance.
What items you can & cannot trade in Where Winds Meet
Items that can be traded
- Specific collectibles marked as exchangeable
- Duplicate collection items (commonly bowls from collection-related content)
Items that cannot be traded
- Weapons and armor
- Outfits, skins, and cosmetics
- General inventory items and crafting resources
- Currency
If an item does not appear in the exchange menu, it cannot be traded.
How to trade collectibles with other players
Step 1: Switch to online or co-op mode
You must be in online mode or actively participating in a co-op session. Trading options do not appear in offline play.

Step 2: Meet the other player in-game
Move close to the player you want to trade with. When you are within interaction range, an on-screen prompt appears over their character.

Step 3: Open the exchange option
Interact with the player and select Exchange Collection from the interaction menu. This sends a trade request to the other player.

Step 4: Select collectibles to trade
Each player chooses which eligible collectibles they want to offer. Only items allowed by the system can be placed into the exchange.

Step 5: Review and confirm the exchange
Carefully check both sides of the trade. Once both players confirm, the exchange completes instantly and cannot be undone.

Trading limitations
- Trades only work for specific collectibles, not general items
- Both players must be online and present together
- Trades are final once confirmed
- Availability of exchangeable items depends on progression and collection status
Some features seen in other regional versions are not yet part of the global release.
How gifting works in Where Winds Meet
In Where Winds Meet, gifting can refer to a few different systems — both player-to-player gifting of items/cosmetics and gift-related items you can give to NPCs to build relationships / receive rewards. Here’s what’s known so far from the game’s systems:
Items you can gift to other players
You can gift shop items (mostly cosmetic) to your friends in the game, such as:
- Outfits / Costume Sets
- Cosmetics (appearance items, hairstyles, mounts, etc.)
- These are usually purchased from the in-game shop and then sent through the gift button in a friend’s profile or chat UI.
Notes / Tips
- There may be level restrictions (e.g., needing to be above a certain level to send gifts).
- There’s also a gifting limit for how much value you can send from the cash shop, which can be reached and stops further gifts until you increase that limit (often via currency/paid methods).
NPC friendship gifts
Aside from player-to-player gifting, Where Winds Meet features a friendship/old friends system with NPCs. When you befriend an NPC through dialogue (e.g., using the AI chat feature), you may earn “gifts” from them as rewards.
These NPC-gifted items often include:
- Materials and crafting items
- Currency and coins
- Affinity / friendship-boost items
- Miscellaneous reward items
These gifts are delivered weekly once your rapport with the NPC is high enough.

How it works
- Befriend an NPC by chatting and helping them.
- Once friendship threshold is reached, they send you rewards (often shown as gift bags in the rewards menu).
Gift items (Curios & Gifts)
There are also collectible Curios & Gifts — special items meant to give to NPCs to build rapport or strengthen certain story interactions. Examples include:
Special unique curios/gifts specifically used for friendship or quest progression.
These items are separate from regular materials or gift bags and have their own purpose in NPC interactions.
What counts as “Gifts”
Gifting exists separately from trading. When gifting:
- Items are given one-way
- The receiving player does not give anything in return
- Giftable items are still limited
This is not a replacement for true item trading.
Rewards and benefits of collectible trading
| Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| Faster collection completion | Fill missing collectibles using duplicates |
| Reduced grind | Avoid repeating content for rare drops |
| Co-op progression | Encourages coordinated play with friends |
Trading safely and efficiently
- Trade only with players you trust
- Double-check selected items before confirming
- Coordinate with friends to swap duplicates efficiently
- Use recycling or vendors for items that cannot be traded
What is scope of trading in WWM
Trading in Where Winds Meet is intentionally narrow in scope. While you can’t exchange gear or cosmetics, the collectible trading system still offers practical value for completing collections and supporting co-op play. Knowing these limits upfront helps you avoid confusion and plan your multiplayer sessions more effectively.
