When you unlock housing in Kaifeng, you’ll be able to rent one of three distinct property types. Each sits in a different part of the city and comes with its own features, strengths, and rental costs. All three can be previewed from the House Rental menu once you interact with the housing NPC.
Where to rent: Meeting Feng Cheng in South Gate Avenue
To rent any of the three house types, you must first visit Feng Cheng, the NPC who manages property rentals.
NPC: Feng Cheng
Location: Feng’s Tradehall, South Gate Avenue, Kaifeng
Map icon: House / shop marker (visible in your screenshots)
Feng Cheng gives a brief introduction about trading estates and his “honesty tradehall” before giving you access to the rental interface.

From here, you can:
- Preview Dwelling, Compound, or Mansion
- Inspect each home
- Choose rental duration (in months)
- Pay the monthly fee using the indicated currency
- Confirm and finalize the rental
How to rent your house (step-by-step)
Below is the streamlined process once you reach Feng Cheng and rent your house in Where Winds Meet:
Step 1
Talk to Feng Cheng at Feng’s Tradehall (South Gate Avenue, Kaifeng).
Select the House Rental option.

Step 2
Browse the three available homes on the map interface.
Highlight each to see cost, features, and location.

Step 3
Select your desired home.
Choose how many rental months you want by adjusting the slider.

Step 4
Confirm the rental by paying the displayed amount.
The home’s Status will change from “Not Rented” to “Rented.”

Step 5
Once rented, track the house or teleport to it using the home icon on your map.
Walk inside to explore, use its features, and arrange your space.

Types of houses
There are 3 types of houses in Where Winds Meet:
Dwelling – the entry-level home (100)
The Dwelling is the smallest and most affordable rental option in Kaifeng. It’s ideal if you’re starting out and want a place mainly for storage and a small utility benefit.
Key features:
- +15 Trading Goods slots
- Buddhist Hall – Prayer, which allows you to perform a prayer interaction inside
- Lowest monthly rent, making it the easiest home to maintain
This house is located just southeast of South Gate Avenue, marked on your map with the rental icon.

Compound – the mid-tier courtyard home (1000)
The Compound is a medium-sized home placed within a spacious courtyard. It’s bigger, looks more atmospheric, and offers more practical benefits than the Dwelling.
Key features:
- +30 Trading Goods slots
- Bathtub – Bathing, allowing you to refresh and use the bathing interaction
- A well-designed, private courtyard environment
This home sits slightly east of the Dwelling area, still within the South Gate Avenue district.

Mansion – the premium residence (10000)
The Mansion is the largest, most luxurious, and most expensive property available. It comes with the highest storage expansion and a unique stable-related perk.
Key features:
- +60 Trading Goods slots
- Stable – Horse Trading, letting you access house-based horse trading features
- Largest floor space and overall home quality
The Mansion sits on the northern side of the Kaifeng rental map.

How to visit and use your rented home
After renting:
- Your home becomes marked on the Kaifeng map with a roof-shaped icon.
- You can fast-travel to it directly, or walk there manually.
- Interacting with the door lets you enter your private instance.
- Inside, you can use:
- Storage expansions
- Prayer, Bathing, or Horse Trading (depending on house type)
- Interior decoration and placement options
Your home remains active for as many months as you purchased. You can renew the rent later using the same NPC if needed.
