Even though HTC U11 is a powerful beast when it comes to performance, it may hand sometimes because of any reason like bad app installation, problem with system, whatever. While using the force restart trick would certainly help to bring the device out of hang state, but if it slows down in general, and stutters a lot because of any reason, then it’s a good idea to do a hard reset of your HTC U11.
Doing a factory reset would delete all your data and files, so make sure you have made appropriate backup of the device and ahve saved it already. Once a factory reset is done, your device will be as good as new one software-wise, and you would ahve to setup it again — so make sure you have passwords and all ready with you.
Let’s check out how to reset HTC U11.
How to hard reset HTC U11 [simple soft-reset trick]
First, try the force restart trick. Once the device reboots, use your device as you use it regularly, and see if everything is okay. If your problem is solved, then good, otherwise do the full reset using either of the two options below.
Factory Reset (using Settings)
The easiest way to reset your device is to do so from within the settings menu.
- Head over to Settings.
- Scroll down to Backup & reset.
- Then select Factory data reset. (Do NOT select Erase SD card option or else your external data will also be wiped)
- Tap on Reset phone at the bottom of the screen.
- Then select OK.
That’s it. Your device will reboot and it may take a few minutes to boot up properly. Once booted, your HTC U11 will be in the condition it was when you first switched it on.
Factory reset (using Recovery mode)
- First off, power off your HTC U11.
- Next, press and hold the Volume Down and Power button together for a couple of seconds.
- Your device will enter the HTC download mode.
- Using the Volume keys to navigate, head over to the reboot to recovery mode option and press the Power button to confirm.
- Once your HTC U11 enters recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm to reset your device.
- When done, select reboot system now to restart the device. When it’s on, continue to set up the device.
That’s it.
