If you unlock bootloader of your Xperia device for your custom ROMs and mods adventurous, you lose the X-Reality picture engine from Sony, which some of you may be missing. And the poorest part is, there is no coming back. One you’ve unlocked the bootloader, your DRM keys are lost forever and you cannot get the X-Reality engine back — at least normally, that is to say. For the lucky Xperia Z2 owners, there is a trick available, which gets the thing just back and doesn’t requires much efforts either.

But you must meet certain requirements. You Xperia Z2’s model no. should be D6503, and you must be running latest Lollipop firmware, 23.1.A.0.690. Then, all you’ll need to do is flash a custom kernel first of all, then flash DRM restorer file in TWRP recovery and then flash back the original boot.img of the Lollipop firmware.

Those of you feeling thankful can let their feelings be known to nreuge at XDA, who came out with the trick.
