Pokémon Legends: Z-A features a side quest called “Get Well, Fennekin,” where you are tasked with helping a sick Fennekin by finding a Revitalizing Twig. To get it, you must venture into Wild Zone 5, an area southwest of Lumiose Tower in Lumiose City. The path to the twig is blocked by piles of purple toxic sludge, which can only be removed with a Water-type Pokémon’s Water-type move such as Water Gun. Pokémon like Binacle, which can be caught at level 7 in Wild Zone 2, are ideal if you did not choose Totodile as your starter.

Step 1

Accept the “Get Well, Fennekin” quest from the NPC near Lumiose City.

Step 2

Head to Wild Zone 5, southwest of Lumiose Tower.

Step #3

Find a Pokémon in your party or catch one that knows the Psychic move Confusion. Approach the area with purple sludge blocking the path. Use Confusion repeatedly to clear the sludge and open the way forward.

Step 5

Continue through the cleaned tunnel where several glowing markers appear.

Step 6

Interact with the glowing spots until you find the Revitalizing Twig among them.

Step 7

Return to the NPC and give the twig to help the Fennekin recover, earning rewards including the Fennekin Pokémon itself.

The quest is designed to test your preparation, as you must use strategy to avoid the powerful Alpha Whirlipede while collecting the twig. This process is essential for progressing in Fennekin’s storyline and gaining this starter Pokémon, which is shiny-locked as with other gift Pokémon in the game.
