How to Get Red Petals

First, search for any red flower in the world. The most common one is the Poppy, which can be found in many grassy areas.

Don't interact with it or pick it up just yet. Doing so will only give you Poppy.

To get the petals, you will need a hatchet. If you don't have one, you can craft a Crude Hatchet in your pocket crafting menu.

Once you have your hatchet, equip it and make sure it is in your active hand.

Approach the poppy and left-click with your mouse to swing at it.

The flower will break and drop Red Petals instead of the whole plant.

Simply walk over them to add them to your inventory.
