What to know
- License plates are awarded automatically after your car passes inspection, not purchased from a store.
- You must fully assemble and tune the car so it meets all inspection criteria (lights, brakes, engine, etc.).
- After passing, the plates appear in your inventory; you then install them on the front and rear bumpers.
- The game uses inspection to “legalize” your car, and plates are part of that process, just like in My Summer Car.
License plates in My Winter Car are called register plates and work almost exactly like in My Summer Car. You don’t buy them from a store or magazine, instead, they’re issued by the inspection shop after your car passes its first official inspection. Once approved, the plates are added to your inventory and must be installed on the front and rear bumpers, making your car street legal in the game.

How to pass inspection
Follow the steps below to pass the inspection with ease and obtain the license plates:
Step 1: Prepare the car for inspection
Make sure the car is fully assembled with the engine, gearbox, axles, suspension, and body in place. Check that the engine starts reliably, idles smoothly, and has no leaks or overheating. Test all lights, ensure the brakes and handbrake work properly, and confirm the steering and suspension are in good condition.

Step 2: Go to the Lindell inspection shop
Drive your car to the Lindell inspection shop and park in the inspection bay. Interact with the inspector and pay the inspection fee. Wait for the inspection to finish; the inspector will either approve the car or list any problems. If it fails, fix the issues in your garage and return for another inspection.

Step 3: Get and install the license plates
After your car passes inspection, the front and rear license plates are kept on the table. Pick one up, go to your car, and install the front plate by hovering over the bumper when the prompt appears. Repeat the process for the rear plate. Once both plates are installed, your car is fully registered and ready for rallies, races, and normal driving.

Tips for Getting License Plates
- Make sure the engine runs smoothly with no misfires, overheating, or oil leaks.
- Ensure all lights work: headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and the license plate light.
- Check that the brakes are effective and the handbrake holds the car on a slope.
- Keep steering and suspension in good condition with no excessive play or broken parts.
- Fix any major body damage or missing parts that could fail safety.
- Confirm the VIN on the chassis matches the registration papers, especially if using mods or custom setups.
- If the car fails inspection, fix the issues and return for another check until it passes.
Getting Your Car Street Legal
In My Winter Car, license plates are a reward for successfully building and passing inspection, they aren’t bought from a store. Make sure your car is fully assembled, tuned, and meets all inspection requirements, then take it to the Lindell inspection shop. Once it passes, the plates are added to your inventory and can be installed on the front and rear bumpers, making your car street legal and ready for rallies, races, and everyday driving.
