In Zenless Zone Zero, Bangboos act as your fourth squad member in Hollow combats, automatically aiding with active skills, passives, and Chain Attacks while matching your team's attributes or factions for optimal buffs. You'll first encounter Eous as a non-combat Hollow assistant, but combat Bangboos like Bagboo (free starter) expand your options quickly. Here's everything you need to know to get and use Bangboos in Zenless Zone Zero.

How to unlock the Bangboo Channel

You unlock the Bangboo Channel by progressing through the main story to Chapter 1 Intermission, achieving Inter-Knot Level 20 to enter Hollow Zero, and speaking with Enzo at the Turbo Remodeling Shop on Sixth Street. This action opens the "An Outstanding Partner" Signal Search banner, where you select your target S-Rank without affecting pity.​

How to acquire Boopons and pull Bangboos

You gather Boopons mainly from clearing Hollow Zero, completing weekly Rally Commissions (which reward 5 Boopons for all bounties), shopping at the Bangbuck Exchange, participating in events, and claiming Inter-Knot milestones like the initial 80 free Boopons.​

Step 1: Open Signal Search

Access the menu and navigate to Signal Search, then switch to the Bangboo Channel tab.​

Step 2: Perform pulls

Spend 1 Boopon for a single pull or 10 for a multi-pull to improve your odds via the pity system.​

Step 3: Collect your Bangboos

You receive Bagboo for free upon your first unlock, and any duplicates convert into cores for upgrades.

How to equip and use Bangboos in combat

You equip a Bangboo by opening the Proxy squad menu in the bottom-right slot.

Then select one.

How to upgrade your Bangboos

You handle all upgrades at Enzo's Turbo Remodeling Shop after reaching Chapter 2.​

Step 1: Increase levels

Feed Bangboo Systems (obtained from Hollow Zero and quests) to your Bangboo, which raises its HP, ATK, and DEF stats.​

Step 2: Perform System Optimization (Ascension)

At every 10 levels, consume Ether Electrolytes (farmed from Hollow Zero) to break level caps and enhance base skills.​​

Step 3: Apply Core Updates

Use cores from duplicate Bangboos to upgrade their A, B, and C skills up to five times each, delivering major power gains.

Bangboo rewards primarily come from pulls and events, with core upgrades providing skill enhancements rather than fixed loot; prioritize Hollow Zero runs for steady materials.
