What to know
- Drampa appears in Wild Zone 19 during the day.
- An Alpha Drampa can spawn in the center of Wild Zone 20, day or night.
- You need to unlock Wild Zone 20 after Main Mission 38 to access the Alpha variant.
- Catching it may require lowering its HP and using Strong Poké Balls due to its low capture rate.
Drampa is a fan-favorite from Generation 7 and returns in Lumiose City’s Wild Zones in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. If you’re trying to complete your Pokédex or want a strong Special Attacker, here’s how to catch one efficiently.
Where to find Drampa in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Drampa spawns naturally in Wild Zone 19 during the day, often near the middle plinth area. This zone becomes available near the endgame phase, after unlocking Hotel Z. According to in-game reports, Drampa can also appear in Wild Zone 20, specifically at its center, where a Level 64 Alpha Drampa roams both day and night.
You can freely switch to daytime using a camp to increase your chances in Wild Zone 19, as this is its primary spawn window.
Drampa location overview
| Area | Spawn Time | Alpha Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wild Zone 19 | Daytime only | Possible post-crown completion | Found near the middle plinth |
| Wild Zone 20 | Daytime & Nighttime | Guaranteed Alpha | Unlock after Main Mission 38 |
How to catch Drampa easily
Step 1
Unlock Wild Zone 19 or 20 by progressing through the main story up to Mission 38.

Step 2
Rest at a camp to set the in-game time to daytime (for Wild Zone 19 spawns).
Step 3
Travel to the middle plinth area in Wild Zone 19 or the center plateau in Wild Zone 20. Look for a large, serpent-like white and green dragon Pokémon.
Step 4
Approach cautiously and use a Stealth Spray or Smoke Bomb. Toss a Great Ball or Ultra Ball when Drampa’s back is turned, as this increases your catch rate.
Step 5
If direct capture fails, battle it. Use Ice, Fairy, or Dragon-type attacks to weaken it, since Drampa is weak to those types. Avoid fainting it since it’s rare to encounter.

Drampa excels in Special Attack, making it powerful for mid-to-late game battles.
