What to know
- You must build a standard Workbench (4 trunks, 3 stones) and then a Farmer's Workbench (6 trunks, 20 plant fiber) to begin.
- Farming requires a crude hoe for tilling and a watering can for irrigation.
- Some seeds can be crafted using materials like Essence of Life and sunflowers.
- The process involves tilling land with a hoe, planting seeds by right-clicking, and watering them until they fully grow.
Farming in Hytale is a multi-step process that provides a sustainable way to gather food and resources. It begins with establishing the right tools and crafting stations before moving into the actual preparation of the land. By understanding how to manage your soil and keep your plants hydrated, you can ensure a steady harvest throughout your adventures in Orbis.
How to Farm in Hytale
The first phase of farming is preparation and crafting workbenches.
Craft Workbenches and items
You need to craft a standard Workbench using four tree trunks and three stones. Use that workbench to create a Farmer's Workbench with six trunks and 20 plant fibers.

Once the Farmer's Workbench is placed, use it to craft a crude hoe (2 trunks, 1 stone) and an empty watering can (3 iron ingots). You will also need seeds, which can be crafted using Essence of Life and other plant materials.

Till, seed, and water the land and start farming
Once your tools are ready, select the hoe and right-click on the ground to till the land.

After the soil is tilled, equip your seeds and right-click on the tilled blocks to plant them.

Finally, take your watering can—filled at any nearby water source—and right-click on the seeds to water them.

You must then wait for the crops to reach full maturity before they can be harvested.
By following these steps to prepare your tools and manage your crops, you can establish a successful farm in Hytale.
