What you need to craft a furnace
Before crafting a furnace, make sure you already have a Workbench placed.
To craft a furnace, you’ll need the following resources:
- Any Stone: Gather some stone from nearby outcrops or caves.
- Any Tree Trunk: Chop down a tree to get some wood trunks
These materials are intentionally simple so you can craft a furnace shortly after spawning.
How to build a Furnace
Before you can build a furnace, you’ll need a workbench. If you haven’t already, you can easily build one from your basic crafting area. Interact with your workbench to open the crafting menu.

Look for the furnace icon within the workbench menu. It might be located in a specific tab for advanced tools or structures.

Select the furnace and click Craft. Make sure to stay in the crafting menu until the process is complete to ensure your furnace is successfully crafted.

Once you have your furnace, you can place it anywhere in your home or base. Simply equip it and Right-Click on a suitable surface.

You’re now ready to start smelting and crafting more advanced items!

- Build multiple furnaces later to speed up smelting
- Pair it with storage chests for smoother crafting loops
Getting Furnace ready for the next tier of crafting
Without a furnace, metal progression comes to a halt. Nearly every upgrade path in Hytale—tools, weapons, armor, and stations—depends on smelted materials, making this structure a core milestone.
Once your furnace is placed and running, you’re officially ready to move into metalworking and more complex crafting systems. From here, Hytale opens up rapidly with new recipes, stations, and combat upgrades.
