Election seasons tend to generate a lot of political content on social media. And while 2024 is now behind us, you may still be getting political content on Instagram even if you don't want to. Fortunately, Instagram lets you control how much political content is recommended to you on the platform. If you already follow accounts related to politics, Instagram won’t come in your way. But if you don’t, here's how you can control the political content you see on the platform.
How to control Instagram’s Political Content filter
If you don’t want Instagram limiting the political content that you see on the platform, you can make the change easily. Here’s how to do so:
Step-by-step guide with screenshots
Step 1: Launch Instagram and tap on your profile icon in the bottom right corner. Then tap on the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on the Suggested content option. Then tap on Political content.

Step 3: You can choose to See less or See more depending on what you prefer.

On the other hand, if you don’t want to be recommended political content from people you don’t follow, stick with the default 'Standard' option.
