Apple Music is now a ChatGPT app. With it, you can now prompt ChatGPT to create Apple Music playlists, get song information, and recommendations for your library. The feature went live just a day after news broke out that Apple Music could be coming to ChatGPT.

Along with the Apple Music integration, ChatGPT also tweaked the apps and connectors settings. Now all connectors are merged with Apps so the previous 'Apps & Connectors' setting is now called just 'Apps'.
Here's everything you need to know to connect Apple Music to ChatGPT on web and ChatGPT's mobile app, and how to use it to create Apple Music playlists and get recommendations using natural language.
How to connect Apple Music to ChatGPT on the web
Step 1
Click on your profile in the top left corner and select Settings.

Step 2
Select Apps on the left and click on Add more on the right.

Step 3
Find Apple Music from the list. It should be under the 'Featured' tab.

Step 4
Click Connect.

You can connect Apple Music to ChatGPT with or without logging into your Apple Music account. If you don't have an Apple Music subscription, you can still use the app in ChatGPT to find songs and create playlists.

But you'll need an Apple Music subscription and login to be able to add those songs, albums, and playlists to your personal library.
Step 5
To connect to your Apple Music account, click Continue. You'll then now be redirected to the Apple Music login page.

Step 6
After you've entered your login info, click on Continue and allow ChatGPT to access your Apple Music media library and listening activity.

And just like that, you would have connected Apple Music to ChatGPT on the web.
How to connect Apple Music to ChatGPT on ChatGPT mobile app
Connecting Apple Music to ChatGPT on the latter's mobile app works similarly.
Step 1
Launch the ChatGPT app and tap on the horizontal lines in the top left corner. Then tap on your profile in the bottom left.

Step 2
Tap on Apps. Then select Browse apps.

Step 3
Select Apple Music from the list and tap Connect.

You can choose to connect Apple Music with or without logging in.
Note: The 'Connect' button didn't do anything for us on ChatGPT's Android app. This could be a bug, since the Apple Music integration is recent. We had to resort to connecting it via the web option. But once done, it works flawlessly on both web and mobile.
How to use ChatGPT to get Apple Music playlists and recommendations
Once connected, you can simply invoke Apple Music in a conversation with ChatGPT.
You can ask ChatGPT to use Apple Music by typing the @ symbol followed by Apple Music and selecting Apple Music.

Then simply type what you want ChatGPT to do with Apple Music, such as creating a playlist.

ChatGPT will create a playlist and give you a snapshot of the songs within it. You can click on their thumbnails to preview them.

If you connected your Apple Music account, you'll be able to see the songs that are already in your library. They will have a tick next to them. You can also add songs from the playlist to your library from here itself. Simply click the + icon next to them to do so.

ChatGPT will give a full list of the songs added to the playlist. You can follow up with another prompt if you want to change the playlist or want something specific.
If there are any changes you want to make, this is the time. ChatGPT won't be able to edit the playlist once it is part of your library because of permission restrictions.
Once ready, add this playlist to your Apple Music library by clicking on Create Playlist in Apple Music.

The playlist will become available in your Apple Music library.

Apart from creating playlists, ChatGPT can also help you find songs.

It is also good at giving recommendations based on other songs, artists, genre, etc., finding information about missing albums in your region's catalog, and providing details about discographies and different versions of albums/songs.

Things you can't do with ChatGPT's Apple Music integration
Apple Music gives minimal permissions to ChatGPT. That means ChatGPT cannot access your library, or see, query, or filter from it. So it won't be able to select songs from it nor tell you your listening stats. Your listening history is always kept private. For the same reason, ChatGPT also cannot modify your existing playlists.
So make sure to get the playlist right before adding it to your library. Otherwise, you'll have to edit it yourself, which beats the purpose of having the Apple Music integration in ChatGPT. The main things it's good for are creating playlists and finding songs, artists, and albums, etc. and information about them.
